Overview
Japanese Writing Practice is a desktop app for learning Japanese writing, covering hiragana, katakana, and kanji through multiple-choice flash cards and memory games. Unlike printed cards, it listens to how you do, plays native-sounding pronunciation, and shows you exactly which characters you keep missing. It runs entirely on your machine, with no account and no internet required. The interface supports Japanese and English.
Platform: Desktop (Linux, macOS, Windows)
Features
Flash cards for hiragana, katakana, and kanji
Three-option multiple choice that scores and flips automatically
Memory games built from your own weakest characters
Native-sounding Japanese pronunciation for every card
Optional sound cues on correct answers
Detailed analytics: miss-rate maps, weak-character drills, and retention
Daily streaks and session history to build a habit
Multiple learners on one computer, each with their own progress
What you can do
1Drills individual characters with confusable options so wrong answers still teach.
2Plays correct pronunciation and readings when a card is flipped.
3Pinpoints the characters you keep missing and builds practice around them.
4Tracks every learner's progress separately and lets you save, load, or reset it.
